Equipment

  • Mixing bowl
  • Baking Sheet
  • Oven
  • Parchment paper

Ingredients

Dough

  • 1 cup self-rising flour or homemade (1 cup all-purpose flour + 1 1/2 tsp baking powder + 1/4 tsp salt)
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt full-fat or 2% for best texture

Optional Toppings

  • 1 egg beaten, for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp everything bagel seasoning or sesame seeds, optional

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine the self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. Mix until a shaggy dough forms.
  • Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 1-2 minutes until smooth. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
  • Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a rope and connect the ends to form a bagel shape.
  • Place the bagels onto the prepared baking sheet. Brush with egg wash if using and sprinkle with desired toppings.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown. For extra crispiness, broil for 1-2 minutes at the end.
  • Let the bagels cool slightly before serving. Enjoy fresh or toasted!

Notes

For a gluten-free version, use a gluten-free self-rising flour blend. To add flavors, mix cinnamon and raisins for a sweet version or garlic and cheese for a savory twist.
