  • 1 ½ cups whole milk
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp salt

Instructions
 

  • In a medium saucepan, whisk together the cocoa powder, sugar, flour, and salt until evenly combined.
  • Gradually add the milk, whisking continuously to prevent lumps.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and cook, whisking constantly, until the mixture starts to thicken (about 5-7 minutes).
  • Remove from heat and stir in the butter and vanilla extract until smooth and glossy.
  • Serve warm over biscuits, pancakes, waffles, or toast.

Notes

For a richer flavor, use half-and-half instead of milk. You can also add a pinch of cinnamon or espresso powder to enhance the chocolate taste.
