Ingredients
  

Birthday Cake Batter

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour can use cake flour for lighter texture
  • 1 ½ cups sugar granulated or brown
  • 1 tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 1 cup butter or oil butter adds richness, oil makes it moist
  • 3 large eggs room temperature
  • 1 cup milk or buttermilk adds creaminess and softness
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and line cake pans with parchment paper.
  • In a bowl, mix flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream butter (or oil) and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each.
  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with dry ingredients. Stir in vanilla extract.
  • Pour batter into prepared cake pans and smooth the tops.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely before decorating.
